Sponge Cakes

Sponge cakes are central to many of our celebrations; birthday cupcakes, a slice of loaf cake with afternoon tea, or a beautiful layered cake for a special occasion. 

In this class I take you back to basics and focus on how you achieve a light, beautifully moist sponge cake, where flavour is key. We’ll make three different types of sponge cakes, in different flavours and shapes to explore a variety of techniques and skills. You’ll leave confident you can make a delicious sponge cake for any occasion. Example menus would be:

  • Victoria Sponge Cake
  • Chocolate fairy cakes
  • Banana chocolate chip loaf

We’ll bake together in this class to make the most of the time. The class will take around 3 ½  hours and can be arranged for a weekday morning or afternoon at my own kitchen in Cumnor, West Oxford.
